Course Description



  • To create for the student of University of Mumbai an additional avenue of self-employment and also to benefit Banks, Insurance Companies and Industries by providing them with suitable trained persons in the field of Banking and Insurance.

  • To prepare students to exploit opportunities, being newly created, in the field of Banking and Insurance due to Globalization, Privatization andLiberalization.

  • To provide adequate exposure to operational environment in the field of Banking, Insurance and other related financial services.

  • To inculcate training and practical approach among the students by using modern technologies in the field of Banking, Insurance etc.

  • In the changing world scenario where finance, especially Banking andInsurance, play a key role , the need to tune our educational system to cater to the paced changes is very much felt.

  • The methods of financing business growth, the sources of finance and their availability , the mechanism used for procuring and utilizing the funds productively and profitably have been diversifying and progressively changing Hence in–depth knowledge of different aspects of Banking, Insurance and other financial services and thorough understanding of the practical application of theory has became imperative.

  • In view of University of Mumbai has introduced Bachelor of Commerce(Banking and Insurance) from the academic year 2003-04 To meet the changing times, MMK introduced the B.com Programme in Banking andInsurance from the academic year(2004-05).

Eligibility


A student who has passed XII Standard from any recognized Board with at least 45% marks in aggregate (40%in case of reserved category) in one and the same sitting.

Documents Required


For BBI Documents Required
1 Admission form in original (Green colour).
2 Original Marksheet of XIIth Std. along with four attested Photocopies.
3 Photocopy of Xth Std. Marksheet
4 Leaving Certificate with two attested Photocopies.
5 Migration Certificate and Pass Certificate with two attested Photocopies (for other than Maharashtra Board Students).
6 Four passport size photographs.
7 Eligibility form (for other than Maharashtra Board Students) will be provided by the college.
8 Affidavit on Rs. 100/- stamp paper (for Sindhi students only).
9 Caste Certificate with two attested Photocopies (for Reserved Category students only)

Requirement for IB Board


A student from another University or Board of Secondary or Intermediate Education or any other statutory examining body seeking admission to this University shall apply to the Registrar of University of Mumbai for a Certificate of Eligibility.

Such students will be admitted to the deemed class only if they have obtained the Provisional Certificate of Eligibility from the Registrar, University of Mumbai for that class. For final confirmation of Eligibility students should submit the following certificates in original, along with a copy of :

1. Original Mark Sheet.

2. Original Passing Certificate.

3. Original Migration Certificate.

Students whose admission is provisional should note that if their admission isnot finally confirmed by the Registrar, University of Mumbai, their terms kept for the academic year shall be treated as null and void and they will not be allowed to appear at the final examination. Foreign students will have to show documentary evidence of conversion of their visa in addition to the above said conditions for eligibility.

Students seeking transfer from one College to another during the academic year are required to submit a NOC and further Transference Certificate and the Marks Certificate showing marks obtained at the First Term Examination conducted by the earlier College.

In the event of a student getting transferred from one College to anotherwithin the University of Mumbai, the marks secured by the candidate atthe end of the first term examination in the original College, shall bebinding on the candidate and on the College to which the candidate is transferred. Further a student migrating from another University tothis University for joining the Second Year Course need not be requiredto appear and pass the First Year Examination of this University if eligibility is granted by the Mumbai University to the class of admission.
