Principal's Message

Dr. A.C. Vanjani
Smt. MMK College of Commerce & Economics established in the year 1961 by the H(S)NC board embarked on its journey of excellence to cater to the requirements of the students of North Mumbai.

Over the years the institution with over 4000 students on its rolls has made rapid progress in diverse fields and has introduced a range of courses aimed at developing professional expertise and skilled manpower. Our young college of 55 years houses various aided and unaided courses like B.Com, BBI, BAF, BFM, BMS, BMM,M.Com, Management studies etc.

Our Institution also serves as a becon of academics and research excellence. We have applied for a Research centre on our campus where soon Phd registrations will be done.

We have a committed faculty which continuously strives to achieve the goals of the institution and upgrade itself regularly through seminars, conference, workshops and pursuing doctorates in their specified subjects. Today we are witnessing a paradigm shift from the theoretical approach to application based education. Technology is a must to translate all the goals and ambitious projects into reality. This year has been a benchmark for our college as we have successfully upgraded our infrastructure and implemented necessary technological requirements.

At MMK we strive to draw out the innate abilities of our students by providing opportunities in the form of NSS, Literary and Debating competitions, Fine Arts etc. AAKARSHAN our annual cultural fest has become a brand name in every home.

It was a moment of great pride when in the year 2011, the year of our Golden Jubilee, A.C.Nielsen India today survey ranked our College as the 8th best college for Commerce in Mumbai University and 32nd best college for commerce in the Country. “Character is a real foundation of all worthwhile success. Every accomplishment starts with a try.”

In sports MMK has become a major force to reckon with. It was ranked 3rd amongst the 648 colleges of Mumbai. Through sports we try to create zealous and disciplined individuals of character who will adopt fair play in all dealings of life.

“Education is not preparation for life; Education is life itself.”- John Dewey With ambitious policies like”Make in India”, “Digital India” and recently launched “Start up India”, the world is looking at this country as a potential talent pool. The stress is laid more on employability and entrepreneurship. More than ever there is a need for the young minds not only to achieve excellence in academics but to uphold traditional values and adopt the correct attitude in life……………..

And I believe, as our students stand on the threshold of a new life, enhanced with skills and empowered by our motto.
“Give and take a fair deal” will continue to tread on the path of excellence……………………….

"The end product of education should be a free creative man who can battle against historical circumstances and adversities of nature" Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
